A Space is a desktop your agents can use and you can watch: a local container or VM, a cloud sandbox, or your own machine. Each runs cua-spacesd, which streams the screen, takes input through Cua Driver, and receives teleported apps and files.
The Cua Spaces app puts your Spaces in the menu bar and notch, so you can watch them, open them and teleport apps in with a drag. It launches at login (Settings > General > Launch Cua Spaces at login, on after setup unless you untick it), so the Spaces this machine provides, your persistent agents and Cua Volume come back after a restart.
The Cua SDK gives your own apps the same Spaces: create them, stream them and run agents in them from Python, TypeScript, Swift or Rust.
| Kind | Id | Comes from |
|---|---|---|
| Direct | direct:<host:port> | spaces.add(url, token): an existing machine |
| Cloud | cloud:<name> | spaces.create(on="cloud") |
| Local | local:<name> | spaces.create(on="local") |
| Relay | relay:<machine-id> | Your machines set up with cua host setup, listed automatically |
The app, the cua CLI, the SDKs and cua daemon share one registry (~/.cua/spaces.json).
